• Miebo is a perfluorohexyloctane ophthalmic solution used to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. 
• Miebo is the first and only prescription eye drop that directly targets tear evaporation, the leading cause of dry eye disease.
• Miebo is a small, comfortable drop that spreads quickly across the eye, coating it in a protective layer. Miebo is made from only one ingredient and is both preservative and steroid-free. 
• Miebo is an FDA-approved Rx drop that has been tested in 2 clinical studies and can only be prescribed by a doctor. It is important for patients to use Miebo exactly as prescribed. 
• It is not known if Miebo is safe and effective in children under the age of 18.

Recommended Dosage:

Miebo is an ophthalmic solution designed to provide relief and support for various eye conditions. When using Miebo, it’s important to follow the recommended dosing instructions for optimal results and to ensure the safety of your eyes.

• The suggested dosage is one drop of Miebo to be instilled into each eye. 
• This should be done four times a day. It’s essential to administer the drops as evenly spaced throughout the day as possible, allowing for approximately six to eight hours between each application. 
• This regular dosing schedule is intended to maintain a consistent level of the medication in your eyes, ensuring its effectiveness in addressing your specific eye condition.

Important

Before instilling the Miebo eye drop, it’s crucial to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to prevent any potential contamination. Gently shake the Miebo bottle to ensure that the solution is well-mixed. Then, using a clean and dry tissue or cloth, gently wipe any excess moisture from your eyes.

To drop the Miebo eye drop, tilt your head backward, look upward, and use one hand to pull down your lower eyelid gently, creating a small pocket. Hold the Miebo bottle with your other hand and carefully instill one drop into the pocket formed by the lower eyelid. Be cautious not to touch your eye with the dropper tip to avoid any contamination.

Warnings & Precautions

• Miebo is contraindicated in patients with a history of known severe hypersensitivity to the components of Miebo and its ingredients. Before using perfluorohexyloctane, patients should tell their doctor or pharmacist if they are allergic to it or if they have any other allergies.
• Miebo should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Patients should talk to their healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of Miebo during pregnancy. 
• It is unknown whether breastfeeding women can use this medicine. Before starting the medicine, inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding. 
• Miebo should not be administered while wearing contact lenses.
• Patients should remove contact lenses before using Miebo and wait for at least 30 minutes before reinserting.
• Miebo should only be used as directed by a doctor.
• Patients should not use Miebo if they are under the age of 18.
• Patients should not touch the dropper tip or let it touch their eye or any other surface to avoid contamination.
• Patients should apply gentle pressure for 1 to 2 minutes before opening their eyes to prevent the medication from draining out.
• Patients should not rinse the dropper and should replace the dropper cap after each use.
• Patients should wait several minutes for their vision to clear before driving or operating machinery.
• Patients should use Miebo regularly to get the most benefit from it and tell their doctor if their condition lasts or gets worse.

Common Miebo Side Effects:

• Sensitivity to light

Use in Specific Population

• Miebo’s safety and effectiveness have not been established for patients under 18 years of age. However, there have been no discernible variations in safety and effectiveness between older and younger patients.

Storage and Handling

• Keep Miebo at temperatures between 20ºC to 25ºC (68ºF to 77ºF). Once opened, Miebo remains usable until the bottle’s expiration date.
• Miebo (perfluorohexyloctane ophthalmic solution) is provided in 5 mL polypropylene bottles with dropper tips and screw caps, enclosed in a carton, maintaining its sterility as a clear and colorless liquid.
